Role and Responsibilities
For GCU Mobile App, I was working as a UX designer along with another designer and the project manager. My key responsibilities are:
  • Collaborate with the team to create the intuitive user interface
  • Using InVision to build the prototype for testing and demo
  • Interactive with project managers to capture client's need and requirements as well as translate them into visual solutions
  • Create information architecture to showcase the flow of the application
  • Provide implantation support such as creating UI assets as needed
Design Process
Before start working on the screens,
let's understand the content first
Since I joined the project after the initial requirements have been captured and documented, understand existing content and progress become critical. After some quick discussion, I realized that GCU has already built an initial version of the app. Our mission is to improve the user experience and user interaction for them. Therefore, before I jump into the screen and prototype, I created the information architect based on the given information.

Creating the information architecture helps me quick capture needed feature of the application as well as the overall flow. This saved me lots of effort and time when I started working on building the prototype and screens. Moreover this also save lots of back and forth within the team.
While working on the screens,
User Journey Evolved
The initial user journey was created before I joined the project. With the development of the product, multiple iterations occur. The user journey has also developed while we building screens.

For future reference and documentation, I have also been updating the user journey along with the growth of the product.

Iteration,
Iteration, and Iteration
Multiple versions of home page have been created to deliver the best experience for users. Since GCU is an accredited, nonprofit christian university, we were trying to design the home page(authenticated user view) that also provides people with a feeling of belonging.
